Description
All our biochar is made from locally and responsibly sourced wood chip. We have a good understanding of our supply of wood chip; we process it ourselves and therefore can be sure of its consistently high quality. We remove the fines (twigs and leaves) before pyrolysis, meaning a higher level of carbon is sequestered. As this biochar has not been activated, when applying to your garden beds and plants, it is recommended that nutrients are added in addition to the biochar.
There are a myriad of uses for non-activated biochar in a garden setting, including its use as a water filter in ponds and remediation of land through its ability to adsorb heavy metals and other pollutants.
Whilst it retains a lot of water when applied to soil, it is also both porous in structure and irregular in shape to allow water to run through the ground when saturated.
